This diet is also known as the Master Cleanse diet which is supposed to detox or clean your body or rather the insides of your body in just 10 days. With the hectic life styles of today’s generation, health becomes the victim. With most people not having enough time to cook a proper meal that includes healthy nutrients of a balanced diet, they rush around eating whatever is at hand which is mostly convenient food or junk food as we call them,  resulting in our systems getting clogged with pollutants, and unhealthy fats which is the hall mark of industrialized food. Lack of exercise, stress and other factors also contribute to most sicknesses today apart from which obesity is becoming another worrying factor which leads to heart diseases, strokes and other fatal illnesses.

The main focus of the maple syrup diet is to clean our insides and flush out the toxins that have invaded the body. The maple syrup diet which is in fact a recipe in itself is a concoction consisting of maple syrup, lemon juice, tea, salt and cayenne pepper. As you guessed, all these ingredients are very low in calories and high in cleansing properties which helps in the flushing of all pollutants, undigested food and other toxins that have invaded our bodies creating various health problems and massive weight gains.

When you start on the Maple syrup diet, all you have to do is drink it throughout the day interspersed with water and tea    to keep those hunger pangs away. The trick is in going on a diet by taking in food or drink which has absolutely no caloric values or nutrients which obviously will make you lose weight. The point however is can you do it?

Be warned. The Maple Syrup diet is not an easy diet to follow. It’s drastic, harsh and makes you weak, irritable and very, very hungry, for the simple reason it has no nutrients at all.  By sticking to this diet your body will be deprived of the required number of calories per day for normal bodily functions. None of the ingredients which make up the diet has any proteins, fiber, fats, minerals or vitamins that are necessary to keep you going. Your body will be crying out for nutrition and when it doesn’t get it, you will start looking sick, hungry and unable to function normally. If you break the diet midway, you will start eating more and faster to compensate for the loss which in the end would be counter productive.

A crash diet is generally not recommended unless you have great will power to keep it up to a successful finish. The maple syrup diet however is only for a period of 10 days and if you are desperate enough and healthy to a certain extent, you might want to try it for the impressive results you can expect.
